Mo,
Welcome to Tweeters. If people don't ask, they don't learn.

Hello all,
I just moved to Olympia from out of state and have a question for local birders. I'm curious about the rampant speculation about races, sub-species, rare species etc. posted lately on tweeters. I haven't seen this before to this degree in the other message boards I've subscribed to. Is this a local thing? A winter thing? Did the recent bean goose sighting put everyone on high alert? Don't get me wrong, learning identification intricacies can be difficult and finding rare individuals can be fun, but many of the recent postings seem just plain careless.
