Dear Tweets,

A decade and a half ago or so, the Point Reyes Bird Observatory newsletter published a photo of a Great Blue Heron catching a Black Rail in flight! The accompanying article described how the hapless rail was overtaken and devoured by the ravenous heron.

This spring, I watched a Cattle Egret flying around, looking very unhappy--an even unhappier sandpiper of some kind was sticking halfway out of its beak!
