Hi Tweets,
Immense flocks of Snow Geese laced the sky today throughout the
Skagit. At one point several large flocks rising off the mudflats formed
and reformed gathering into the thousands then flying directly over our
heads, transfixing us with their eerie ululations and the filagree
patterns of their flight. A huge flock carried on right next to the road
on Thomle Road. Other highlights on Thomle were 1 Orange-crowned
Warbler, 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon's) and 4 Black-bellied Plover
mixed in a flock of Dunlin.
At the Stanwood Sewage Ponds we saw an adult Prairie Falcon light
on the storage towers opposite the front gate to the ponds staying long
enough for several of us to have a good look through the scope. In the
first pond we saw a female Longtail Duck.
