RARE BIRD ALERT FOR LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE

Sightings for Sunday, February 3rd:

Rare Bird Alert! An adult LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was found in Pitt Meadows
this afternoon. The bird was in a field just past the second bridge on
Neeves Rd.
when travelling north from Dewdney Rd. Look for a memorial marker just past
the second bridge. The feild should be easy to spot as it has yellow bamboo
poles in it. This is a very rare sighting the Lower Mainland and photographs
are most desired!

Meanwhile the ever present WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was again seen at its
usual Port Coquitlum location. The best area to look for the bird is in the
1900 block of Routley Ave.

At Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver today upto 50 COMMON
REDPOLLS were seen. Other birds of note were 1 COOPER'S HAWK,
1 MERLIN and 1 AMERICAN PIPIT.

At Boundary Bay Regional Park between 64th St and 72nd St were a
WESTERN MEADOWLARK and on the foreshore the GYRFALCON.

The 20 COMMON REDPOLLS were again seen in the townhouse complex
at Holly Park Lane today. The best area to find them is at the feeder near
building 11. These birds have been in the area for several weeks.

On Sea Island this afternoon a male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was seen
with a flock of Starlings.
