Tweets - I have a wicked bad cold, and I really shouldn't have gotten out of
bed this morning, but I knew there'd likely be nobody else there today and I
didn't want to have a gap in my data. It's a good thing I did, since I was
joined by two self-proclaimed beginning birders who would have been left in the
lurch if I hadn't showed.

The drizzle had turned to light rain by the time we got out of our cars, and
became just plain rain by about 9:00. At about 9:45, though, it stopped for a
while. By 10:20, the rain was back, accompanied by winds. The water level, at
4.57', meant that the trail was flooded before the boardwalk - makeable if we'd
all had tall boots, but we went around.

The most notable thing about the weather was that it was DARK. It made for
tough birding, and Nancy and Robin (almost) qualify as intrepid for sticking it
out.

There weren't many highlights:

Brown Creeper One near the east end of the boardwalk
Lincoln's Sparrow One at the compost piles was a life bird for Robin

Still - it was fun to show some new people the park.

Only 38 species total, with notable misses such as Ring-billed Gull, Downy
Woodpecker and Dark-eyed Junco. The year list remains at 65.

We did have a great look at a preening MUSKRAT near the Rowing Club dock, and
there was a recently run-over Pacific Tree (Chorus) Frog on the lane to the
Rowing Club boathouse.
