Subject: Olympia CBC, Dec 25, 1996-Compiler?

In 1996, the publisher made a mistake with George Walter's submission for the Olympia
circle. You'll notice one Golden-crowned Sparrow and 343 Swamp Sparrows. Guess what?
If I had my way, it would indicate 343 Golden-crowned Sparrows, zero Swamp Sparrows, and
one additional White-crowned Sparrow... but that's another story.
I don't know how to get it fixed. A review of the really old Christmas Bird Count results
is quite entertaining. There are quite a few bird names that I don't recognize and lots of
indications of uneven coverage and less-than-perfect identifications. Either that or
Glaucous-winged Gulls have recently driven out the hordes of Herring Gulls that used to be
here. Many examples of this kind of thing.
I have been checking in with www.birdsource.com on a regular basis hoping to find the 102nd
Christmas Bird Count results for the Olympia circle. Alas, nothing.
