I have created an Access file to keep track of all those interesting
articles and special pictures of all the magazines I get relating to birds.

It happened so often that I would want to look up some particular fact and
knew I had read an article or seen a picture but couldn't remember in what
magazine. The data input is done in little bits so is not an arduous task.
To get the database going was time consuming and I still haven't got all the
mags catalogued but have many in put.

Now a quick search for a key word or phrase finds the item being hunted for.

As for using Access for bird lists I think you would be reinventing the
wheel.

It's tough to beat Avisys for record keeping. It also lets you do most of
the queries you have listed except for time of year searches.
