Alder Creek salamander survey
February 9, 2002 1000-1200hr

Lee, Evan and Naomi Cain guided me to the spot on Alder
Creek where Park Service biologists said they caught
neotenic dicamptodon salamanders earlier this week. We
did not find any dicamps, but we did not really put in
enough time to call are search anything approaching
thorough.

We did find an interesting fungus that I had never seen
before. I've posted a picture at:

It was in a rotting log and is hard and hollow.
