Hello Tweeters,

I did not give to much attention about the description about the age of the
male Pine Grosbeak. The Adult bird would be all solid red. The bird we saw
had a russet red head to the upper breast. It states in books ( Geographic
and Sibley Guides) as either an immature male or female.I found an exellent
photo of the bird we had on Saturday in "Master Guide to Birding" published
by the Audubon Society. Volume 329 top photo. There is much variation in
both immature males and female birds. It is a perfect match of the bird we
saw.
