yes, indeed, this morning was more interesting than any other this
year with regards to birdsong. not only did i hear several robins
singing, but i also caught the twittering song of a rufous towhee
as i walked into my building on campus this morning.

the bewick's wrens have been practicing, too, and my research birds,
white-crowned sparrows, are in plastic song right now as well. (a
poet friend of mine came to visit my birds so i did a song playback
for them and they answered in their sweet tenuous voices).
