Saturday, February 9, 10:06 PM. This is Barry Lyon [?] birding with Bob
Sundstrom leading a Victor Emanuel Nature Tour, a winter Washington trip
and I just wanted to report a couple of sightings for the last couple of
days. Certainly nothing spectacular but we did have some nice sightings,
nevertheless. On the Samish Flats, the so called west 90 which is
west of the intersection of Bayview-Edison and Samish Island Road, at dusk,
yesterday evening there were about 7 SHORT-EARED OWLS flying around the
fields. This morning to the east of that intersection was a
PRAIRIE FALCON on a telephone pole. At the Skagit Headquarters which is the
Wildlife Management Headquarters which is south on
Wylie from Fir Island Road there was a flock of about 100 COMMON REDPOLLS
swirling around the alders there and also a NORTHERN SHRIKE approximately
half way between Fir Island Road and the Wildlife Management
Headquarters. Thank you very much.

Monday, February 11, 9:19 PM. This is Alan Grenon. Yesterday, Sunday, Mike
Donahue, Alan Knue and I were birding in the Tokeland area. We
did see the BAR-TAILED GODWIT roosting in the Marina at high tide. We also
found about 22 SNOWY PLOVERS at Midway Beach and we found the EMPEROR GOOSE
about 2 and half miles beyond South Bend. That would be west
approximately on highway 101. My phone number is (206) 709-7435.
