Mountain Quail Monitoring Position
Upland Game Bird Program

Job Title: Mountain quail monitoring position - F&W Tech. 1 (temporary
appt.)
Salary: $1803 per month (effective January 1, 2002)
Location: The position is located near John Day, Oregon
Duration: 5 1/2-month duration from Jan 15, 2002 through June 30, 2002

Duties: This position is responsible for monitoring radio-marked mountain
quail for 5 1/2 months in the Murderers Creek area south of Dayville, OR, to
determining habitat use, survival and movements of translocated mountain
quail. In addition, emphasis will also be placed on locating resident
populations of mountain quail in Grant and Crook counties.

To Qualify: An associate's degree in Wildlife Technology, Applied Science in
Agriculture, or Agriculture Education; OR
eighteen months of experience in the care of livestock; agricultural
research and experimentation; monitoring game or wildlife; farming or
related field; OR an equivalent combination of training or experience.
A Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science or a closely related degree in
biological sciences may substitute for the Associate's degree.

Preference will be given to those applicants who have previous experience
using telemetry monitoring equipment from the ground and air. Ability to use
Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to plot mountain quail locations
is highly desired. A valid driver's license, good driving record and ability
to operate 4X4 vehicle will be required.
