Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday February 14. If you have anything to add call

The BRAMBLING continues to be seen near Burns.

Early spring migrants are arriving right on schedule. On February 9 both
RUFOUS and ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRDS were at New River, south of Bandon. On
February 10 a RUFOUS was at Florence, and on February 13 one was near
Waldport. Migrant TURKEY VULTURES and TREE SWALLOWS are also arriving.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON, a GLAUCOUS GULL, and several BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKES are still being seen about the mouth of the Siuslaw River at
Florence. The SNOW BUNTING is still at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay,
and the SNOWY OWL is still at the South Jetty of the Columbia River. On
February 9 a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was near Fort Clatsop south of
Astoria.

On February 9 a PRAIRIE FALCON was along Oak Island Road on Sauvie
Island. The next day a NORTHERN SHRIKE was in the same area. On February
12 a heavy gull movement was noticed passing upstream along the Columbia
River at Sauvie Island. Last year a similar movement was in response to
an upriver smelt run. The COMMON REDPOLLS are still being seen at Oaks
Bottom in southeast Portland. The Beaverton COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD continues
to be seen.

On February 9 a WILSON'S WARBLER was heard calling in west Salem. Among a
large gathering of gulls on Staats Lake in Keizer February 8 were six
WESTERN GULLS.

The GYRFALCON is still being seen west of Perrydale as is the BURROWING
OWL along Smithfield Road. A SAY'S PHOEBE was seen February 8 near
Helmick State Park, south of Monmouth. The MAGPIE is still being seen in
southwest Monmouth. On February 9 an adult VESPER SPARROW was south of
Independence.

On February 12, 48 TRUMPETER SWANS were along Airlie Road west of Highway
99W. A YELLOW WARBLER was in Central Point in the Rogue Valley February
9. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was at Agate Lake north of Medford February 12.

SHARP-TAILED GROUSE are still being seen along Golf Course Road near
Enterprise. Over 100 TREE SPARROWS were there last week-end. On February
9, 20 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were in LaGrande and about 200 were in Joseph.
REDPOLLS are still being seen in northest Oregon.
