While doing my backyard bird count today, I had a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE come
through the yard and land in the top of a medium sized fir tree for a short
observation. This is the first time we have recorded this species in our
Cascade Park home in Vancouver, WA.

We have had 2 FOX SPARROWS in our yard and they are still here along with
VARIED THRUSH, 2 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, and BAND-TAILED PIGEONS that are here
with the regulars.

I have been trying to document the NORTHERN FLICKERS in our yard. Many have
varying marks since they are of Red-shafted, and Red-and-Yellow shafted mix.
We saw 11 at one time one morning and I knew that wasn't all of them from my
little study. We had at least 8 today but the way we go through suet
mixture, I am sure the whole 12 or more are still around.
