I know that most of you have already seen these birds, but for those who
have not, the Snowy Plovers are still at the end of Midway south of
Grayland - go to the beach and turn south, look in the tire tracks. The
Bar-tailed Godwit is still at the Marina in Tokeland - when I was there both
Saturday and Sunday, there were two groups of birds, one on one of the docks
and the other, with the Bar-tailed on a small island in front of the dock.
The Black Phoebe was still immediately behind the new office building at the
Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge. As an added benny, there were
both Tundra and Trumpeter Swans on the west side of Grays Bay. They were in
separate groups - the Trumpeters started flying and calling while I was
there. There were two adults and two immature with their heavy markings.
Although I looked, I did not find the Emperor Goose in the Tokeland/Raymond
area. Thanks to Pat and Ruth Sullivan for their directions.
