Hi Tweets,
Saturday morning I had a good look at a female Merlin through
the scope. It appeared to be a dark Taiga or Black. The bird was perched
atop a tall fir tree just south of NW 125th between 6th and 7th. Then it
spotted prey and sped off. This tree is often used by Merlins. I've seen
a male Taiga Merlin in this tree before. And several times I've seen
Merlins in this tree but usually they get chased off by crows before I
can get a look. Today was very windy, with the Merlin clinging to a
wildly swinging top branch.
