Brownsmead, Clatsop County, OR 02/25/2002

A huge flock of migrating TREE SWALLOWS was along Brownsmead Dike
this morning, at least 75 birds. Mixed in were two VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOWS and 8 BARN SWALLOWS. The Barn Swallows were NOT in
alternate (breeding) plumage which would suggest (if I'm reading
Pyle correctly) that these were first winter birds. Two smaller
groups of TREE SWALLOWS were encountered at Bughole and on
Jackson Rd.
