Howdy, Nice photo's,sure looks like a Barred Owl to me. We have a Barred
that hangs out every winter in back of our house in a wooded area, here in
beautiful downtown Burnaby, B.C. Some mornings after his daytime, the crows
will be mobbing as he/she tries to roost for the day in a cedar, and so we
know where to check...have taken some nice photo's as well...even found
pellets on top of the kids fort in the yard. Went out to find him early one
evening last year, and I guess he could just see my head above the
blackberries, tho't I looked good enough for a snack and he swooped down and
just missed...landed right beside me in a maple tree and sat and stared for
a minute before silently flying off into the dusk. Pretty cool! Any ways,
pretty safe bet you have a Barred there, great bird to see...Good Birding ,
Randy Findlay, Burnaby, B.C.
