Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday February 28. If you have anything to add call

A possible ARCTIC LOON was reported February 25 on Yaquina Bay. The
Perrydale GYRFALCON continues to be seen. Lately it has been two miles
west of town. The Burns BRAMBLING is still being seen.

SANDHILL CRANES and BAND-TAILED PIGEONS are now arriving in numbers.
COMMON MURRES are moving back onto their nesting rocks, and SAGE GROUSE
are now gathering on their leks. A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was in Portland
February 24.

A NORTHERN FULMAR was inside Yaquina Bay February 24. The SNOW BUNTING is
still at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. A FORK-TAILED STORM-PETREL was
off Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach February 24. Among a large flock
of TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS at BRownsmead February 25 were eight
BARN SWALLOWS.

A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK and a ROSS'S GOOSE were reported from Ridgefield
NWR during the week. The REDPOLLS continue to be seen at Oaks Bottom in
southeast Portland. On February 24 a group of WESTERN BLUEBIRDS were at
Powell Butte Park near Gresham. On February 24 a LESSER YELLOWLEGS was at
the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.

A MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER was in Eugene February 22. A RED FOX SPARROW was
at Skinners Butte in Eugene February 27. A SWAMP SPARROW was in White
City February 22.

On February 25 a flock of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS was at Lower Bridge near
Terrebonne. TREE SWALLOWS are also in the area. Waterfowl are now
gathering in the Klamath Basin. On February 24 over 3000 ROSS'S GEESE,
500 SNOW GEESE, and 1000 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at Miller Island SWA.

REDPOLLS were reported during the week at Redmond, Hermiston, and Malheur
NWR. A flock of WESTERN BLUEBIRDS was near Frenchglen, and a TREE SWALLOW
was near Benson Pond February 24.
