Falcated Duck Fanciers,

The Falcated Duck was seen again this morning, about 8:45 AM by a handful of
birders looking over the fields and ponds just to the west as the road to Samish
Island starts up the hill (the same spot as yesterday mornings sighting by Keith
Brady). The early morning light, coming from behind the observers, was perfect
to highlight the colors of the bird. A lot of searching before that time left
the impression that the bird arrived with a flock of about 30 wigeons, joining
the large wigeon flock. Regretfully, the bird was seen for only about 3 minutes
before the entire flock flushed and moved to the waters beyond the dike. As of
11 AM the bird had not returned to the fields or ponds but is likely still in
the area.
