My apologies for not posting this sooner; I thought I had gotten this to the
Bird Box but may not have recorded correctly...

During the Leavenworth CBC on 12/22, I saw two WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKERS on
Icicle Ridge, and a third reportedly showed up in somebody's back yard.

If anybody is interested in getting a peek, they are probably are still in
the area...I suspect they are wintering there.
To look for the two that I saw, take Highway 2 to Leavenworth, then turn
south on Icicle Rd (first right entering Leavenworth if coming from Seattle)
and drive about 1-1.5 mi to the Icicle Ridge Trailhead (USFS Trail Park
Permit needed) on the right. Hike up the trail about 2/3 of the distance to
the ridge (about 900' gain). The woodpeckers were seen where the still live
Ponderosa forest meets the first big burn area from the '94 fires. I used
snowshoes; while not essential, they have had more snow since then and will
make the climb easier.

I also pished in Pygmy, Red-breasted, and White-breasted Nuthatches,
Mountain Chickadees, Brown Creepers, and a Northern Pygmy Owl at that spot.

There were some other cool birds seen on this CBC, which I expect Karen
Haire will post when she has the chance.
