Sightings for Thursday, January 3rd.

A fairly tame GREY-CROWNED ROSY FINCH was seen at the wind-surfers turn off
on the Tsawwassen Jetty.

Wednesday, January 2nd

A female ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD has been frequenting a feeder in the 15900 block
of Goggs Ave. in White Rock.

A WESTERN GULL was seen near Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts.

2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and 2 EURASIAN WIGEON were observed from the
Tsawwassen Jetty.

Tuesday, January 1st

A BEWICK'S race TUNDRA SWAN was found in a flock of Tundra & Trumpeter Swans
at Harrison Mills. This flock was located just past the Harrison Mills
Store. Also seen at this location was a male REDHEAD.

Observed from the Tsawwassen Jetty were the AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, 2 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS, the WILLET, and up to 25 BLACK TURNSTONES.

Seen in White Rock were the HEERMANN'S GULL & a WESTERN GULL.

Near 33rd & 34A in Delta were 25 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS.

A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen near the foot of 112th an along the Bay near
64th were the GYRFALCON and 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS.

Two BARRED OWLS, thought to be a pair staking out a territory were heard
calling in the afternoon in the SE corner of Deer Lake Park.

Monday, December 31st

Two RED KNOTS & a MARBLED GODWIT were observed in a field south of 34B and
east of Hwy 17.

A BLACK OYSTERCATCHER and 6 BLACK TURNSTONES were seen on the Tsawwassen
Jetty.

Perched on a fence post along 64th was a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and a PEREGRINE
was seen near the foot of 64th.

A flock of EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen near 24th & 192nd.

Sunday, December 30th

A bird fitting the description of an ARCTIC LOON was seen in the early
morning offshore from the Compensation Lagoon on the Tsawwassen Jetty.
Photographic confirmation of this bird would be appreciated. Also seen from
the jetty were 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 8 BLACK TURNSTONES and the WILLET.

45 EURASIAN WIGEONS were counted on a trip out the Roberts Bank Jetty.

On Brunswick Point west of the foot of 34th a SWAMP SPARROW was observed.
Also reported from Brunswick point were 8 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, a
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, a NORTHERN SHRIKE and a MERLIN. The male AMERICAN
KESTREL was again seen on 41B north of Deltaport Way.

The grey morph GYRFALCON was seen at the foot of 64th.

The provisional total for the White Rock CBC was 121 with the highlight
birds being the juvenile HEERMANN'S GULL at the foot of the White Rock Pier,
a SPOTTED SANDPIPER, ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER and a VIRGINIA RAIL.

An AMERICAN DIPPER and a GREEN HERON were seen near the fish hatchery at
Noon's Creek in Port Moody. A BLACK TURNSTONE was seen on the Rocky Point
Pier.

A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen taking a duck on the inner ponds at Minnekhada
Park.
