Today, I went down to Julia Butler Hansen Reserve near Cathlamet where I
found the BLACK PHOEBE near the reserve office building. It is very vocal
and active, but it moves around a lot, so patience is required. I waited
40 minutes before it made its first brief appearance at about 11 am. It
seems to like the spot on the canal behind the buildings near a big
culvert. I ran into Mike and Marilynn Denny there and we watched a Bald
Eagle make a pass at a big Nutria. There were also lots and lots of
CACKLING CANADA GEESE in the vicinity.

Mike recommended that I drive around Puget Island, where, in the late
afternoon, I saw one WESTERN SCRUB-JAY and one WHITE-TAILED KITE.
