To those who wrote about Mitred Parakeets (Mitred Conures), Aratinga
mitrata, none of the ones around here have as much red on their heads as is
shown for Mitred by various South American books or Parrots of the World,
and when I've seen the flock, I've tried to look at every bird for that
feature. I've photographed them in 3 different years, and at Ian Paulsen's
request, I plan to scan some slides and put them on the museum website next
week, so all of you Aratinga experts out there can take a look at them. No
prizes offered for successful guesses, as I don't know the REAL TRUTH
either.
