A very ironic thing happened yesterday. I barely heard about it, but
there was apparently a small earthquake in Western Washington yesterday (did
anybody feel it?). I really haven't given earthquakes any thought since our
last significant one. However, yesterday, I noticed a sudden change in the
bird behavior in my backyard - the birds just started going crazy. I must
have had fifty juncos in my backyard, thirty chickadees (both species),
hundreds of robins in the neighborhood, among others. They just suddenly
went berserk - flying every which way, calling and singing. I even heard
juncos make a noise I'd never heard before. And I remember thinking, "Hmmm .
.. . wonder if this means there will be an earthquake? If there is, I'll sure
have something to tell Tweeters!" Well, there was an earthquake . . .
Coincidence . . .?
