I too have seen a bobcat, in recent clearcuts bordering soon-to-be clearcut
on Hwy 109 just east of Hogan's Corner; that is just before the turnoff to
Ocean Shores. It was about 5:15 am, and the cat was crossing the highway. My
high beams caught its eyes and then the unmistakable markings of a bobcat as
it disappeared into the brush. WOW!

I was interested to hear about a lynx spotting near Raymond (probably a
bit far south to be placed on the Olympic Peninsula). My wife and I
spotted what we felt was a bobcat crossing Highway 101 about a mile
north of Raymond just over the top of the hill on a rainy late Sunday
afternoon in January about ten years ago. Weather and traffic kept us
from stopping to look further. The immediate surrounding habitat was
forested -- not the preferred habitat for bobcat -- but the area also
has regenerating clearcuts that would perhaps have served.
