Tweets - in line with other recent postings, Cle Elum provided many nice birds
yesterday morning.

At Second and Montgomery I had 40-50 BOHEMIAN WAXWING. After I scoped them for
a few minutes, they flew to the west and were not seen again.

I had PINE GROSBEAK at two locations. Two females or immatures were seen
perched at Third and Peoh in the company of another 4 birds seen flying only.
Later, I had a flock of about 20, including several bright males, in South Cle
Elum at the corner of S. Cle Elum Rd and Madison. They all seemed very flighty
and nervous, making prolonged viewing difficult.

Also in South Cle Elum, I had 4-6 COMMON REDPOLL off Lincoln, between 6th and
7th. Nearby was an accipiter, probably SHARP-SHINNED, though I didn't get a
great look (it was buried in the top of a large tree).

The feeders at the house at the corner of S. Cle Elumn Rd and Grant yielded a
fine yard list, including 20+ EVENING GROSBEAK, HERMIT THRUSH, VARIED THRUSH,
MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE, BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, NORTHERN
FLICKER, DARK-EYED JUNCO, and HOUSE FINCH.

I did get grilled by the local constabulatory - he was concerned about a guy
with a long beard walking around the neighborhood with binoculars. I assured
him I was NOT looking in any windows. He sounded like he was dreading the
phone calls that would come in.

The most surprising bird was a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE in Cle Elum at about Third
and Yakima. It was sitting in a tree with a Varied Thrush.

I tooled around north of Ellensburg in the afternoon, and I saw very little
except for around 8 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS.
