A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER has been seen near Twisp, Okanogan Co WA for the
past 4 to 5 weeks. It was still being seen as of today, 11 Jan. It is
essentially visiting 2 sets of feeders, one on Bulgar and another across
the Twisp River in the Horseshoe Community Trailer Park. To get to the
first location, take WA 153 north from Twisp, then cross the Twisp River and
make a left onto Ainsworth. Go to the 90-degree turn, turn right onto
Bulgar, and go to the 2nd house on the left, number 311. To get to the
second location, backtrack across the river and take the first right onto
Twisp Avenue (if you go here first, that would be a left turn before
crossing the Twisp River) with the King Tire Store on the corner. Turn right
onto Magers Street and straight to the trailer park to site 62. Dave Dunn
lives here and feeds the warbler and would be tickled to death to have you
stop by and chat. WA DeLorme 99, B-8.

Two YELLOW-BILLED LOONS are at Oden Bay in Pend Oreille Lake near Sandpoint,
Bonner Co ID according to Earl Chapin. One bird has been present for about 7
weeks and the other for 4 weeks and both can be seen from Sunnyside Road. To
get there from the north end of Sandpoint, take ID 200 toward Montana, at
milepost 35 turn south onto Sunnyside at the Sportsman Access sign. ID
DeLorme 62, BC-3 (Sunnyside heads south from Culver on the map). A better
map and directions are in A Birders' Guide to Idaho p 33-35. The birds were
seen on 5 Jan by Matthew and Larry Moskwik. To reach the location where they
found the birds, proceed down Sunnyside Road until it makes a sharp turn to
the left (starts to head east). Right where the road heads east there will
be small island and a house. Park along the side of the road and scan the
water to the south. .

Found on the Grand Coulee CBC, a single HOARY REDPOLL is persisting at the
residence of Don Andrews, a few miles southwest of Electric City, Grant CO
WA. Found by Patrick and Ruth Sullivan on 5 Jan, several folks have now
viewed this bird. To get to it, at WA 155 milepost 21.5, turn onto Lake
Ridge Lane NE. Don Andrew's residence, number 55947, is a very short
distance down the road on the right. Thanks to Dave Beaudette for the great
directions. As a follow-up Bob Flores and others saw the bird on 8 Jan and
report it is best seen early in the mornings, becoming less reliable and for
shorter periods of time as the day progresses. Mark Houston and others
report seeing it at first light on 10 Jan and it was seen today by Mike and
MerryLynn Denny who also report an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW in the yard as
well. WA DeLorme 85, A-8.

South of Electric City, Grant Co WA on 11 Jan on Banks Lake at Steamboat
Rock SP were 12 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS according to Mike and MerryLynn
Denny. Also in the park was a flock of 50 COMMON REDPOLLS feeding on
sagebrush. WA DeLorme 85, AB-7.

At the Walla Walla River Delta in western Walla Walla Co WA on 5 Jan was an
adult MEW GULL and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL flew in around 3 pm
according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Also there were 85 DUNLIN and a GREAT
EGRET. The delta is at the jct of US 12 and US 730. Just a few miles north,
at 523 Basin Loop Road were 2 CATTLE EGRETS. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

Randy Hill relocated the SNOWY OWL south of Moses Lake, Grant Co WA first
seen by the Dennys before Christmas. He saw it again on 7 Jan. It was
between Road 3 SE and Road 4 SE and Road L SE and Road M SE, southwest of WA
17. WA DeLorme 69, D-7.

Another SNOWY OWL was seen 10 Jan by Mark Houston and others SE of
Davenport, Lincoln Co WA, near the intersection of Omans and Hayes roads. WA
DeLorme 87, D-8.

Some good birds turned up on the Lewiston ID/Clarkston WA CBC on 5 Jan and
later in the week, including 2 RED-NECKED GREBES, 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS, one of
which was seen again on 9 Jan at Kiwanis Park, the first park south of the
US 12 bridge along Snake River Avenue, and 2 LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the
Clearwater River at the Port of Lewiston grain towers. The river can be
scanned from either of the first two parking lots on the east end of the US
12 bypass around downtown Lewiston. At Mann Lake. 3 miles east of Lewiston
along Powers Avenue was a GYRFALCON, but that bird hasn't been seen since 8
Jan, 2 DUNLIN, single LONG- and SHORT-EARED OWLS, and a GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

Two flocks of PINE GROSBEAKS, 14 birds total, were along Waha Road on 9 Jan
on the way up to Craig Mountain south of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID according
to Joe Lipar. They were found 2.5 miles past the Waha store. ID DeLorme 54,
A-1.
