Greetings Tweeters:
This morning 10 members of Tahoma Audubon plus a local
reporter challenged the weather gods and struck out
for the wilds of the Key Peninsula, west of Gig
Harbor. The weather got progressively better all day
until we were complaining about having to look into
the sun to see our local ducks!
We had a total of 44 species with no real surprises,
but we did run across one lonely spotted sandpiper and
some gorgous Harlequins!
Here's the list:

Pacific Loon
Common Loon
Pied-billed Grebe
Horned Grebe
Red-necked Grebe
Eared Grebe
Double-crested Cormorant
Pelagic Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Mallard
American Wigeon
Greater Scaup
Harlequin Duck
Surf Scoter
White-winged Scoter
Common Goldeneye
Barrow's Goldeneye
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
Common Merganser
Bald Eagle (4)

Mew Gull
Ring-billed Gull
Glaucous-winged Gull
Rock Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Steller's Jay
American Crow
Common Raven
Black-capped Chickadee
Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Winter Wren
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
American Robin
Townsend's Warbler
Spotted Towhee

That's it for now. Thanks for all the sharp eye out
there today.

- Rolan
