Howdy, I have the Thayer's 2.5 version, Birds of N. America, which we find
is a great birding tool and also just fun and interesting to use....neat
quizzes, bird calls, info., range maps and all that stuff. It just requires
an 8x c.d. rom drive, works great for us, no problem with loading or speed
etc. A group of us in the Vancouver, B.C. area went together and got a
really good price by purchasing a no. of cd's together, I think directly
from the manufacturer, the more the merrier I guess. I wasn't directly
involved in the purchase, so don't know all the details, but it's something
you might want to look into doing as a group. Good Luck and hope you find
some great birds this year!! Randy Findlay and family, Burnaby, B.C.
