I saw two Townsend's a short while ago at NSCC, but today we had one in
our yard. It spend about 10 minutes poking under leaves and hopping into
the shrubs along the edge of the yard.
My new thistle feeder is a typical tube feeder but the perches require
the birds to hang upside down to access the tiny openings for the seeds.
It works great, and I've had 4-10 PINE SISKINS regularly this winter.
I'm also testing a new design that will discourage house sparrows from
the black sunflower feeder. So far it seems to work. It also discourages
the house finches. But I've gotten very tired of refilling the feeder for
this house pigs.
