Hi Tweets, Ruth & Pat, and others,
On our third trip to the observation deck at the refuge headquarters, an
unrecognized bird song was noted. After some searching The Bird was found
fly-catching from perches on the far shore, just above to several feet above
the slough where the vocalization originated. This bird is not easily
located on the shaded shoreline to the south, where its coloration served to
camouflage ready observation. It took some work to locate the Black Phoebe
after each foray out over the water. Observation occurred between 4 and
4:20 PM!
Nice bird, this Black Phoebe! Thanks for the help all you who stopped
to share.
