Subject: Marymoor Park Report (Redmond, King Co., WA) 1/16/2002

Tweets - today I was joined by Joyce Meyer and Mike West with their matching
white Subaru Outbacks. The day was dark and fairly cold, with heavy, damp air.
Things were pretty quiet for much of the morning, but there were some good
birds.

Highlights:

Horned Grebe 1 well out on lake
Common Snipe Near weir
Sharp-shinned Hawk Nice look at its back and flight, near Dog Central
Dunlin Flock of ~20 flew over East Meadow towards
lake
Hairy Woodpecker 2-3, Dog Central and Rowing Club
Brown Creeper 2 at Rowing Club
Western Meadowlark 1 in East Meadow

As with last week, the Horned Grebe was seen from the cabana of an apartment
complex at the NW corner of the lake where I went to try to get a firm ID on
some scaup. It would have been visible (though hard to ID) from the lake
platform.

All told, 51 species. 63 species to date in 2002 (up 5 from last week).
