Sightings for Wednesday, January 16th

The WESTERN SCRUB JAY continues to be seen at its McDonald Place, Port
Coquitlam location between Rodger Avenue and Routley Avenue.

At Reifel today were 2 AMERICAN BITTERNS, 2 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES, a
HERMIT
THRUSH and in a nearby field, 10 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.

At Roberts Bank were 7 WESTERN SANDPIPERS while at the Tsawwassen Jetty
were
a WILLET and 4 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS. The AMERICAN KESTREL was again seen at
41B and Deltaport Way.

A MERLIN was at the foot of 72nd, Boundary Bay, while a GYRFALCON and a
PEREGRINE FALCON were at the foot of 64th.

A WESTERN GULL was seen from the White Rock Pier and a MARBLED GODWIT was in
the harbor at Blaine, Washington.

Sightings for Tuesday, January 15th

In Everett Crowley Park in Vancouver, a HOARY REDPOLL was located. The area
is found by entering a parking lot on Kerr Street and following the main
trail until there is a fork. Go to the right and follow this trail until you
see a large dirt mound covered in broom on your left. At the next fork, take
a left. Follow this main trail east or straight. Continue past the trail
repairs and you will reach an open area with more broom. The bird was with
23 COMMON REDPOLLS in Alders. Also in this area were a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW and an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was seen again today. It should be noted that the
bird
has also been seen from the 1900 block of Routley Avenue. Once again, please
avoid trespassing.

At Reifel Bird Sanctuary were 2 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES and 1 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER.

A WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was seen in the 900 block of W 58th in Vancouver.

In Richmond, at the west end of Blundell, were 2 HERMIT THRUSHES and a
HUTTON'S VIREO. The 2 BARN SWALLOWS were again at the south end of the Iona
causeway.

Off the White Rock pier, 205 PACIFIC LOONS were observed.

A late report from January 13th from Reifel includes a PEREGRINE FALCON and
a BARN SWALLOW.

Sightings for Monday, January 14th

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY continues to be seen at its Mary Hill location.
Nearby
at Colony Farm, were a SHORT-EARED OWL and a RING-NECKED DUCK.

At the South End of the Iona Causeway were an AMERICAN BITTERN, a SAVANNAH
SPARROW, 4 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, a SWAMP SPARROW, 2 BARN SWALLOWS, and 30
COMMON REDPOLLS.

Sightings for Sunday, January 13th

A WESTERN SCRUB-JAY, which has been visiting a feeder in the Mary Hill area
for several weeks, has been confirmed by local birders. It is located in the
Rodger Avenue and McDonald Place area of Port Coquitlam. The owners of the
home where the bird has been feeding do not wish to have visitors in their
yard. Please respect local residents' privacy while looking for the bird. It
can be found moving throughout this neighborhood with STELLER'S JAYS.

North of the Iona Causeway, at Old Shannon Road, a bird fitting the
description of a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen in a field.

The NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES were seen at Reifel Bird Sanctuary. Also here
was
a NORTHERN GOSHAWK, an AMERICAN BITTERN and 6 CEDAR WAXWINGS. The 4 MUTE
SWANS continue at the Westham Island Bridge.

There were 30 Common Redpolls at the south end of the Iona causeway. There
were also 30 Common Redpolls on the corner of Ontario Street and 52nd Avenue
in Vancouver. Nearby, at the Langara Golf Course was a HERMIT THRUSH. 10
more COMMON REDPOLLS were at Burnaby Mountain Park. Also here were 5 RED
CROSSBILLS and 3 PINE GROSBEAKS.

At the foot of 64th, Boundary Bay, was a GYRFALCON, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER
and an AMERICAN PIPIT while at Brunswick Point was a PRAIRIE FALCON. The
AMERICAN KESTREL was at 41B and Deltaport Way. Nearby was a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW. At the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty were a WILLET and a PRAIRIE FALCON,
possibly the same bird also seen at Brunswick Point.

In Deep Cove, on Harris Street were 12 RED CROSSBILLS and 1 HERMIT THRUSH.

A HUTTON'S VIREO was in Queen Elizabeth Park.

The 4 LONG-EARED OWLS were at the Richmond West Dyke.
