Good morning Tweeters!

There's a question at the end; please read on. Thanks!

Yesterday afternoon I had the chance for a couple of
hours of birding close to home, so I headed up to the
Manchester, Curley Creek, Harper area. As expected
there are large numbers of AMERICAN WIGEONS tucked
into the sheltered coves along the shore, but I was
also treated to three EURASIAN WIGEONS along with a
small flock(6) of BLACK TURNSTONES.

Also seen in my brief visit along the shore:
KILLDEER
G W GULLS
BONAPARTES
GREEN WINGED TEAL
DUNLIN
CANADA GEESE
BALD EAGLE (SUB ADULT)
BUFFLEHEAD
MALLARDS
ROCK DOVES
KINGFISHER

plus a female W W SCOTER diving very near the shore.
I watched her bring up what looked like a small clam
or scallop in the shell and swallow the whole thing.
It was slightly smaller than a golf ball, and it
caused a momentary buldge in her throat, then went on
down. Do they usually swallow the shell and all like
this??

'Til next time,

-Rolan.
