In curiosity I looked at the redpoll total entered for several CBCs in the northern areas on the continent, such as Alaska and the Yukon. Overall these counts seem to be recording about average numbers of redpolls this year (in relation to previous years). So a question for somebody that might have be able to answer or speculate a guess... If the northern areas aren't experiencing a reduction in redpoll abundance, then where are our redpoll numbers coming from? Was this a particularly good redpoll year in terms of production? I'm aware that cbc's don't sample all areas, but generally they do give a fairly good picture of regional happenings and from the northern regions I'm not seeing a lack of redpolls.

thing going on? Is the eastern US getting redpolls this winter, too?
