Tweeters,
We want to drive our motorhome to Alaska from the Seattle area this May.
The three of us, including my elderly mother, will be spending two or three
months in Alaska. We have a 30' motorhome and tow a small car. Birding
will be high on my agenda, so I would like to get a reasonably early start.
My question is, how early in May is it advisable to travel up thrugh B.C.
and then west from Dawson Creek along the Alaskan Highway? We'd rather not
have to deal with blizzards or icy roads, but the shorebird migration occurs
fairly early on the Kenai Peninsula, so there is some incentive to leave
early in May. I would appreciate any information from those who've
previously driven these roads in early to mid May. Please reply off-line.
Many thanks,
Gene Bullock
