Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday Janaury 24. If you have anything to add call

A possible PHAINOPEPLA was reported January 20 in Eugene. The BRAMBLING
continues to be seen north of Burns. The two GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES are
still being seen in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Ontario. The two ORCHARD
ORIOLES are still coming to feeders at Oceanview Drive and Gregory Lane
near Brookings. The Bay City YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER is still being
seen.

Unexpectedly large numbers of TREE and BARN SWALLOWS, WESTERN BLUEBIRDS,
and ROBINS continue to be seen in western Oregon.

Two WHIMBRELS were at Bandon January 17. A SNOW BUNTING is now coming to
the gravel parking lot along the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. ROCK
SANDPIPERS are still being seen along the coast. A flock of 23
OYSTERCATCHERS is now at Depoe Bay. A MOCKINGBIRD is still in Tillamook.

A flock of 275 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS was at the Ziak Refuge at
Brownsmead January 22. The SNOWY OWL is still at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River, but is now moving around a bit.

A group of swans containing four TRUMPETERS are wintering on Sauvie
Island. They are at a pond along Sauvie Island Road just south of Lucy
Reeder Road. On January 22 a color banded BURROWING OWL was at the
Portland Airport. The COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen in
Beaverton. A RED FOX SPARROW is now at Mollala State Park near Canby.

About 20,000 DUNLIN were at Ankeny NWR January 23. A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE
and a BLACK PHOEBE are now at the Willamina Sewage Ponds. The GRYFALCON
is now being seen west of Perrydale. The TREE SPARROWS along Livermore
Road and the Smithfield Road BURROWING OWL are still in place. On January
23 an adult GLAUCOUS GULL was along Livermore Road. On January 19 at
least 25 SHORT-EARED OWLS were along Farmer Road east of Baskett Slough
NWR.

A MOCKINGBIRD was at Black Butte Ranch, west of Sisters January 17.
Another is now in Bend. The REDPOLL flock is still being seen in Bend.

On January 22 a large flock of HORNED LARKS near Woodruff and Godley
Roads in the Grande Ronde Valley contained four LAPLAND LONGSPURS and
four SNOW BUNTINGS. The same day 350 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were east
of Elgin.
