Someone recently gave me a "sock" thistle seed feeder and a few pounds of
the seeds. A few questions: Can I hang it where the seeds will get wet from
the rain? And, what birds might I expect to feed at it, here in central
Seattle? I haven't seen a goldfinch here in thirty years, and the house
finches seem to have disappeared entirely. They used to hang out at our
sunflower seed feeder, but not for the past six months or so. Will the
chickadees eat the thistle seed while sunflower seed is a few feet away?
Any suggestions?
