At Heritage Festival (first weekend of July), about a half acre section of
Marymoor Park is plowed as part of a demonstration. Afterwards, the Park has
planted rye grass there, but the plot mostly grows some weedy kind of mustard,
which grows until the following July.

It occurs to me that it might be possible to plant the 1/2 acre with plants
that would make good winter bird habitat.

Of necessity, it would need to be seeded with annuals that could be planted in
mid-summer and would not be invasive weeds that would spread around the park.

Does anyone have any ideas? Best would be if it could be turned into a winter
sparrow patch.
