Last year, spring thaw came to Anchorage and Fairbanks mid-to-late April,
and the last snow occurred around May 10.

<my comment>

Either last spring in Alaska was unusually early or else here's more
evidence of global warming. The three spring thaws ("breakups" in Alaskan
lingo) that I experienced at Fairbanks in 1968-70 arrived just in time to
permit lake trout fishing on Memorial Day. Maybe I should have stayed in
Alaska after all - sounds like it's getting downright tropical by comparison
with 30 years ago.

The worst government is the most moral. One composed of cynics is
often very tolerant and human.
But when fanatics are on top there is no limit to oppression.
