................A bunch of ORE. DK-EYED JUNCOS and BLACK- CAPPED
CHICKADEES fluttered around the Rhodies and Holly bush in my front yard
in Brush PRAIRIE Sat. during a heavy snow shower.
................Went hiking Sun. up and down north-east Clark county
roads through forest and fields. There something hauntingly beautiful
about hearing the honking of several flocks of CANADA GEESE passing
over the snow-covered landscape. All other sounds around were muffled by
the light snow flurries.(....except for the "rude" sound of a snow plow
grinding along the asphalt road a distance away!!!). MALLARDS called
from an unseen pond near the road.
.................Then there was the RED-TAILED HAWK watching me walk by.
A MERLIN perched briefly on a telephone wire by the road in a heavily
forested area. 4 inches of snow didn't seen to bother the OREGON
JUNCOS, FINCHES and a SPOTTED TOWHEE darting among the thistles and
scrub in a field. A few SPARROWS were also spotted, but no positive I.D.
due to lack of binoculars at the time (-:
.................Nothing terribly unusual here----just my usual winter
'feathered friends'
..................Cheers
