Hi Tweets:

It seems all the woodpeckers found my yard at the same time. Starting on
Friday and continuing on, a male Downy Woodpecker is feeding male and female
young; a female Hairy Woodpecker is feeding a young male; a Red-breasted
Sapsucker stopped by; the Northern Flicker stopped and ate; and when the male
Pileated Woodpecker drums on the bat box, the young male shows up. It was a
fabulous sight when the adult Pileated ate from the suet that hangs just six
feet from the patio windows. The young Downy Woodpeckers are getting
stronger every day. For awhile, they weren't strong enough to hang onto the
feeder pole. They'd slide down like firefighters or they'd flop into the
rhodies below the feeders. When one of them hung onto the patio screen door,
a female Rufous Hummingbird relentlessly buzzed it.

Other yard birds include Purple Finch, House Finch, Pine Siskin, Song
Sparrow, juncos feeding young, towhees feeding young, chickadees,
Red-breasted Nuthatch, Swainson's Thrush, Steller's Jay, Brown Creeper,
American Robin, and a pair of California Quail. Then there was the baby vole
that staggered across the patio to find shelter under the deck.
