Tweets - It occurs to me that I didn't post a report from last Thursday. There
wasn't a whole lot notable, except that there were NINE of us out there. As
summer arrives, the bird diversity drops even as the birder diversity
increases. Illogical.

The weather was overcast, with rain coming on hard at times, and at other times
letting up. Rather chilly too. We did NOT have BLACK SWIFT - too rainy, and
actually the cloud cover looked thinnest near the Cascades. I think they may
have headed east to forage, or were able to forage close to their cliff nests.

Highlights:

Osprey Nice looks, 2 birds
Bald Eagle While trying to view a distant bird, a nice
adult flew over our heads.
Belted Kingfisher 4 simultaneously at the weir - family?
Band-tailed Pigeon Around 10 together in SE portion of park
Red-eyed Vireo A couple of looks, maybe 3 birds seen/heard
Rufous Hummingbird ~5, all female and/or immatures
Common Yellowthroat Several nice looks
White-crowned Sparrow A couple singing near the parking lot*

*White-crowned Sparrow are NOT common at all in the summer at Marymoor. Why
they'll nest at 250 foot elevation but not at 44 feet is beyond me.

We had 45 species, with no real surprises. We're still at 119 species for the
year.

This Thursday is JULY 4, and I WILL be doing the walk at 6:30 as usual. If
anyone has the day off from work and wants to come out, please do.
