Subject: Eastern Phoebe- probably not

Al Murray relocated the bird he saw yesterday. He saw it
under better viewing conditions and said it was making many
more vocalizations. He now believes it to be an OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER.

Relative to the "feer-a-dip" call he reported. I chased a
bird around that was making drawn out "veeer" and "veeer dip"
calls that I was expecting to turn into a Say's Phoebe, but
was instead an Olive-sided.

Birds making unexpected calls can be deceptive....

A child who becomes acquainted with the birds about him
hears every sound and puzzles out its meaning with a cleverness
that amazes those with ears who hear not.
