Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK is now in NW Bend. Another was seen July 2 at
Lillie Lake along the Steens Mountain Road. A HORNED PUFFIN flew past Boiler
Bay June 29; one was seen there the week before. Also on June 29 six
BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS were seen within a mile of the Boiler Bay Viewpoint.

Shorebirds are now passing southward but so far no large numbers are being
reported. On June 28 an AMERICAN AVOCET was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A
male HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen June 28 on the Washington side of the Columbia
River near Washougal.

The Steens Mountain Road is now open to the top and most visitors are seeing
a few BLACK ROSY-FINCHES.
