Here are the latest fall classes. Register early, CUH is now requiring a

Physiology of Birds
With Gene Lagerberg
How can birds breathe without a diaphragm? How do they maintain warmth in
the deep, dark cold of winter? Learn about the avian functions of
respiration, reproduction, and circulation. Observe the internal organs of
birds while learning how they differ, yet in many ways, resemble those of
mammals.
Class: Wednesdays, October 9 and 16, 7:00-9:00PM
Location: Douglas Classroom, Center for Urban Horticulture
Cost: $30 members, $45 nonmembers
Limit: 15

Water Birds of the Northwest
With Brian Bell
Improve your birding skills in finding and identifying those water birds we
see in fall and winter. This class will cover loons, grebes, cormorants,
geese and ducks, alcids, and other species that use the sound and our
waterways. Slides and recordings will help you learn the identifying
characteristics and calls of these birds.
Class: Tuesdays, October 15, 22, and 29, 7:00-9:00 PM
Location: Douglas Classroom, Center for Urban Horticulture
Field trips: Choose one: Friday, November 1 or Saturday, November 2
Cost: $100 members, $115 non-members for lecture and field trip
$75 members, $90 non-members for lecture only
Limit: 25 spaces for lecture/field trip; 5 participants lecture only.
