Hello Tweets,
Yesterday(July 2nd)and today July 3rd Keith Brady and my mother and I birded
vast portions of Okanogan Co. with a total of 141 species, but we were unable
to relocate the Alder Flycatcher along Kipling Rd. and several other key
species that we had hoped to observe. Our trip consisted of birding from
Winthrop to Roger Lake via FR 37 to FR 39 then to Concunully and north the
Havillah area on the 2nd,which included Muskrat Lake. On the 3rd we began in
the Havillah-Chesaw area(including a visit with Paul Lehman and others)along
Kipling Rd. in search of the Alder Flycatcher, then we continued west and
south to Cameron Lake Rd. and a final stop made at Fort Okanogan State Park
and the mouth of the Okanogan River at 2pm. We encountered very good weather
and warm daytime temperatures. Our main highlight of the trip was locating
early arriving shorebirds and a successful nesting pair of Black-necked
Stilts along Cameron Lake Rd. In addition Keith and I observed a single
SHORT-EARED OWL flying over an open field in the Havillah area heading
north, which seemed out of place for the location for the season. During our
searching of the Havillah-Chesaw area birded a few new locations to us,as
