Birders,

Today (July 4) I met up with Paul Lehman & Chris Woods, who were leading a
tour in this neck of the woods. Also, Dick and Russ Cannings joined for the
morning. Although things are a bit slow, being July and all, the group saw
much of what they wanted to see.

Vaseux Cliffs

Chukar 1 calling on rocks
Canyon Wren 4 (two seen in rocky area in ponderosa forest!)
Rock Wren 1 heard
Lewis' Woodpecker 6 moving from S. to N. along cliff

Macintyre Ck Road (E. of the cliffs)

Pacific-slope Flycatcher 2 in deep wooded gully
Dusky Flycatcher 2
Hammond's Flycatcher 2
Lazuli Bunting 4
Golden Eagle 1 ad.
White-breasted Nuthatch 1
Pygmy Nuthatch 3

Venner Meadows Road (Road # 200)

Williamson's Sapsucker 1 male viewed closely at km 15
Olive-sided Flycatcher 1 singing male
Red Crossbill 2 gathering grit on side of road


Shuttleworth Ck Road (Road # 201)

Boreal Chickadee 2 at km 24
Brown Creeper 1 at km 24
Wilson's Warbler 1 at km 24
Fox Sparrow 3 between km 22 - 24
Gray Jay 4
Winter Wren 1 at km 24
Turkey Vulture 1 at Rabbitt Lake
Lincoln's Sparrow 1 with food at Rabbitt Lake.

Black-chinned Hummingbird 2 (male and female)
Calliope Hummingbird 10
Black-headed Grosbeak 1 calling
Clark's Nutcracker 1

Hummingbird feeders at St. Andrews Golf Course on White Lk Road

Rufous Hummingbird 4 (ad. male and 3 female type)

Black-chinned Hummingbird 2

A single Least Flycatcher was along the Twin Lakes Road in an aspen grove,
about 2 km W. of the White Lk Road turnoff.
