Tweets,
this next friday is my last day to help with the in-laws, and then I shall
have free time to bird and see my own family; rent a car and head to
Cheyenne Bottoms for a couple of days. I have noticed here in Wichita NO
gulls at all so far, only large flocks of Herons and all the White Egrets
instead of the gulls. I have found that Tri-Colored Herons have been nesting
in Cheyenne Bottoms and the adjacent areas, and will try to get a look and
also the Clapper and King, and Black Rail(got the Black years ago, but would
like to at least hear one again). Also the Flint Hills where my dad has a
cabin produced a Henslow's Sparrow for me yesterday. I am hoping to get some
other sparrows up near the Kansas City area before I leave, as well as where
my dads cabin is, lots of greater prairie Chicken, and lessers are near
Cheyenne Bottoms..Hope all is well there, my husband has complained of the
cold,(there) and I the humidity here, but of course if I get some new life
birds it is well worth it......Take care! Vicki Biltz
